New York was the most expensive US city for business travel in 2024, according to data from Hickory Global Partners, a global corporate travel consortium. Rome ranked first among international destinations.
The 10 most expensive cities in the US in order were: New York; Cambridge, Mass.; Boston; Washington, DC; San Francisco; Anchorage, Alaska; Chicago; Santa Clara, Calif.; Las Vegas; and Arlington, Va. Internationally the rankings were: Rome; London; Paris; Edinburgh; Zurich; Milan; Geneva; Tokyo; Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; and Hong Kong.
The average daily rate of spending in New York, according to the report, was $447.51, based on booking data in Hickory’s platform for agencies, corporate travel departments and corporations. Anchorage ranked sixth, according to Hickory, because of growing tourism and having one of the busiest cargo airports in the world.
The average spending total for Rome was $522.49, just above London, according to Hickory. Edinburgh, according to the company, is attracting business partly because of high-quality conference venues for large events.
